Matthew Friedberg has been a criminal lawyer throughout his career. He has successfully represented hundreds of clients charged with all types of criminal offenses in courts across Ontario*. Mr. Friedberg regularly represents individuals accused of extremely serious offenses, and many of his cases have garnered media attention. He is widely recognized as a leading defense attorney in the Toronto area.Achievements and EducationMr. Friedberg graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1995, after being admitted to the institution at the age of 20. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1997. He worked at another criminal law firm in Toronto as an associate before co-founding Caramanna, Friedberg LLP in 2002. He is a member of the Ontario Bar, the Criminal Lawyers' Association, and the Toronto Lawyers' Association. He has participated in the Canadian Bar Association's and the Ontario Bar Association's mentorship programs and regularly mentors junior lawyers in criminal law.AwardsBefore being admitted to the Bar, Mr. Friedberg earned a degree in Philosophy from York University and received numerous academic awards throughout his university career, including graduating with distinction (York, 1996), the Dean's Honour List (York, 1996), the Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt Labour Law Prize (Osgoode, 1995), the McGill Dean's List (McGill, 1992), McGill Faculty Scholar (McGill, 1991), and the James McGill Scholarship (McGill, 1991).Mr. Friedberg currently serves on the Communications Committee of the Criminal Lawyers' Association.
